How to use it
When you sign up for Talk, you’ll be asked to provide some information:
- Purpose: What you’d like to use your Talk sessions for.
- Session preferences: How you’d like your sessions to go.
- Location: Your country (and state, if applicable).
- Language: The language in which you’d like to conduct your sessions.
Our matching feature takes your written response to how you'd like to use your sessions and maps it to the focus areas of our coaches and therapists. This helps us identify practitioners who are best suited to your needs. You’ll be shown the top three matches, and you can click through their profiles and book sessions with them. If you prefer, you can still access the full list of therapists and coaches available in your region.
Privacy and data security
Your privacy and data security are paramount. Here’s how we protect your information:
- Confidentiality: Any information you provide to us is confidential. It is not shared with your employer or practitioners. Anonymised data is visible to restricted Unmind employees on a needs must basis.
- Data handling: Your data will be stored and encrypted using industry-standard methods to ensure your information is secure.
- Aggregated reporting: To help your employer understand how Talk is benefiting their employees, we share aggregated, anonymised information. We have strict procedures to protect your privacy.
Your responses will not be shared with anyone apart from restricted Unmind employees in an anonymised form.

Can I request a different therapist to the one I'm matched with?
Absolutely. The matches we provide are recommendations based on your needs. You should review practitioners’ profiles to find the best fit. You can access and book with any therapist or coach available in your region.
How can I trust my match is right for me?
Your match is based on how the meaning of your problem or goal relates to our coaches’ and therapists’ areas of expertise.
Please note that we'll try to match you to a coach or therapist in every case. In the unlikely case you have a need which is not appropriate for the Talk service or which we cannot best serve, your practitioner may not be able to be able to proceed beyond the first session, however they will signpost you to more appropriate support. To learn more about what Talk can help with and the types of issues we may not cover, click here.
We encourage you to read the profiles of the practitioners you are matched with and decide if they are a good fit for you.
Can I work on multiple issues?
You can note down everything you’d like to talk to a practitioner about and the matching process will match you to a practitioner who can help you with all or most of these issues where possible. We’d then encourage you to discuss with the practitioner your needs and decide which ones to prioritise or where to focus first.
How does the matching process work?
The matching process is based on how the meaning of your problem or goal relates to our coaches’ and therapists’ areas of expertise. This ensures that the practitioners recommended to you are well-suited to help with your specific needs.
While we ask, "What would you like your sessions to involve?" that information is not currently used to decide your matches. Your top matches are based on the focus areas identified.
Who will see my responses?
Your anonymised responses to the AI Matching tool will only be visible to restricted Unmind employees on a needs must basis. Nothing is shared with your employer or practitioner.
How can I provide feedback?
The AI Matching tool is a new feature, and we welcome your feedback! Please contact us with any feedback, questions, or issues regarding your sessions or the matching process.
