There may be instances where you feel that you want to change your practitioner. Some common reasons can include:
- Feeling that they are not skilled in your problem area.
- You need another type of approach (e.g instead of therapy, you need coaching).
- Your current practitioner has recommended that you see someone else.
- You feel uncomfortable with your practitioner or they have been unprofessional.
We would recommend that you have a discussion with your practitioner where possible because:
- They can support you in next steps and make suggestions as to who or what can be helpful to you next.
- There may be something useful you can learn about your relationship style, feelings about endings or communication.
- You have the opportunity to close and conclude any work you have completed together and say goodbye.
- Practitioners value feedback and want to learn from this and improve.
Once you have agreed an ending/end date with your current practitioner, it is easy to rebook sessions again with another practitioner. Search on the Unmind Talk platform and book in.
In your new sessions, it would be helpful to explain to your new practitioner about your previous therapy/coaching experiences and what you hope to gain from them.
Please note that your current therapist will be unable to see other practitioners available and that no information is shared between practitioners.
If you do not feel comfortable talking to your practitioner, then you can share feedback with us here. Please see here for information on our complaints and feedback policy.
